Our last meeting of the BAM BJCP 2020 meeting; malting and Strong beers. We did this just before the bar closings and people limit were announced.
So that means if anyone needs or wants some rye malt, please let me know, happy to share!
Ohh and Bellhaven’s Wee Heavy is a wonderful beer!

Grains (thanks Nick) and hops (thanks Joe), plus yeast harvested from my previous batch (American Lager), a bit of decoction, boil for 75 min, chill, and kablamo! fermenting Vienna Lager! Not bad for another WFH day.

Posting this again. Free mature hop crowns and whatever part of the trellis/planters you’d like. This is what they look like when tended to. I can’t seem to find enough time to keep them happy when they bine though. Would love to see them go to a loving home. The crowns are big and could be split into many plantings each of so desired. One is cascade; the other is Apollo.

BAM BJCP training: Off flavors session and Belgian Sours for tasting. We ran through 6 different off flavors by spiking PBR with DMS, Diacetyl, contamination, acetaldehyde, skunky/light struck, papery/oxidized, and bonus metallic before quaffing and judging:
Rodenbach Grand Cru
Petrus Oud Bruin
Boon Oud Geuze
Bonus: Boon Mariage Parfait, and Achel Trappist Brun, they last one not being sour. Mmm, thanks for a great class everyone!

Thanks to everyone who came out to Martinez, what a great time! And many thanks to Del Cielo owner/brewer/BAM member Luis Castro and Dennis at Five Suns for showing us their places and talking about their setup and the history of their breweries.
